My Mum, Joan Mary Boughey, died on 17 March 2018, at the age of 93. I set up this site to pay tribute to her and to record the tributes of others, and also to record my own memories and those of others.
I began this on March 30th 2018, with emotions still very raw, and intend to build up this site as time progresses. For the moment, I felt it sufficient to record this beginning, conceived in part as commencing a process of recovery.
For guidance, the dated categories follow significant periods in her life, with a basic summary and scope for essays on particular memories and records of events. I have to stress that these are very basic and selective; I hope to contribute much more detailed and “warmer” pieces in essays that will follow these categories.
Themes cover aspects of her life that do not fall neatly in chronological periods.
Tributes are any recorded, by me and by others, while Musings record my own memories and events since Mum’s death.
I should finally stress that this is my website, not an official site, and people may remember a very different person than the Joan Boughey and Mum that I recall. I am interested in hearing from anyone who has memories or who wishes to present a tribute.
